and romney, neither a stellar debater. obama didn't shine in the democratic primary debates, biden won them. that's why obama picked biden. candidate obama had a tendency to ramble in the debates, got better during mccain one on ones. while romney did well in this season's gop debates, had rough performances, bet you $10,000 he did. romney performances, the unspoken body language that the camera captured, they were brutal against ted kennedy. ivy league will enjoy biden versus ryan more. trust me. >>> turning back to the brand new battleground polls. there's a different pattern emerging, president obama is ahead in new hampshire, tighter in nevada and north carolina. joining me, director of the marist poll. good to see you in person. >> welcome to the home of the new york yankees. >> you're going to blow the playoff run. >> i am worried. >> we want the beltway series in washington. we have been looking at this as sort of the generic, the general all nine states. what is your take away? >> i think what you're seeing is a very big difference when obama is 45, 46 as months ago when everything

releases on that comment. paul ryan reacted to it. >> vice president biden just today said that the middle class over the last four years has been, quote, buried. we agree. that means we need to stop digging by electing mitt romney the next president of the united states. >> biden clarified his remarks saying, quote, the middle class was buried by policies that romney and ryan supported. the romney campaign tries to make the stick calling a conference call and then holding a press conference in denver this morning. no doubt we'll hear more about the comments tonight from romney as he tries to draw attention away from his own 47% remark. there is a quick look at tonight's format. there are no opening statements. the president will answer the opening questions. the debate will be divided into six 15-minute segments. the president and romney will each get two minutes to answer an initial question in each topic area but then timing will be left to the moderator's discretion. since obama won a coin toss he won the choice and romney got the choice of if he wants the first or second closing state

democrats continue to hammer him on those comments. here's vice president biden o on the campaign trail. >> the fact is people pay a lot of o taxes. social security taxes, state and local taxes. gas t. probl property taxes. when he said it's not my job to worry about these people -- well whose job is it? >> joining me now, republican senator and former governor of north dakota, he's a member of thppias cttnd a romney committee. senator, welcome. >> good to be with you. >> i'm goingo ask you. there's some stunning polling results i've seen. cnbc, my colleagues show the economy's worse buthee people, folks pick president obama more likely to fix it than mitt romney. how did this disconnect happen? i think part of it is staying on point. ou sngmesse. that implies he hasn't been. >> no, i believe this is what campaigns are all about. >>o. they're going to go form. jobs is the big issue. >> a lot of people have been giving him advice saying the issue he should be grabbing is energy and that north dakota is the great example. 3% unemployment. those are numbers tlsh there's full employment. th

's where early voting begins today. biden is in north carolina. march koe rubio brackets the president's visit in vegas. paul ryan kicks off a bus tour of the buckeye state. >> i was teaching the kids the song on the way over here. >> we screw that up. of course, he's in iowa. not ohio. in an interview, romney was pressed for specifics on his tax plan. after ryan said on fox news on sunday the math would take too long to explain. >> you could say everybody is going to get up to a $70,000 deduction and can use your charitable deduction or home mortgage deduction or others. and you can fill that bucket if you will, the $17,000 bucket that way and higher income people might have a lower number. or you could do it by the same method that boll simpson did it. but that's the sort of thing you do with congress. >> so that's the most detail we have heard romney talk about this idea of different buckets and a cap on deductions. but still it's been at nearly every stop in the the last two weeks. romney has had to explain the 47% remark. don't be surprised if we hear a version of this answer when
